Slow Cooker Beef Stew
Ingredients
  • 2 lbs stewing beef
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 4 large potatoes , peeled & cubed
  • 5 carrots , peeled & chopped
  • 5 celery stalks , chopped
  • 1 large onion , chopped
  • 1 tbsp worcheshire sauce
  • 1 tbsp A-1 sauce (or some other steak sauce)
  • ½ cup red wine (optional but good)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
Instructions
  1. In a small dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper. Coat the beef with the flour mixture. Heat a frying pan or large pot over medium heat. Add the oil to the pot and brown the meat.
  2. If you’re cooking your stew in the slow cooker, transfer the browned meat to the slow cooker. Otherwise add all the remaining ingredients into the pot with the beef except the cornstarch and water.
  3. If you are cooking on the stovetop, bring all ingredients to a simmer and cook for approximately 1 hour. If you are cooking in the slow cooker, cook on low for 6 to 8 hours, or on high for 4 hours.
  4. Mix the water and cornstarch together in a small bowl and stir into the stew to thicken the gravy.
