Super fast pizza subs come to your rescue when hockey starts in 45 minutes and you have a 30 minute drive just to get there. They also come to the rescue when your daughter has swimming lessons right after you get home from work. These pizza subs can save the day whenever there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day. Which could really be EVERYDAY, amiright???
I was originally going to call these my “kitchen sink pizza subs” because you can literally put anything and everything you want on these pizza subs. With a little planning you could top these pizza subs with some pretty delicious pizza options however you could also dig through your fridge to see what you have for a last minute meal. The three mandatory ingredients are sub buns, pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese. And maybe pepperoni. They are pizza subs after all.
Super Fast Pizza Subs
- 4 long sub buns cut lengthwise
- 1 can pizza sauce 7 oz
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded (or more)
- 200 g pepperoni
Additional toppings such as:
- Green peppers sliced thin
- Mushrooms sliced thin
- Olives black or green, sliced thin
- Ham diced
- Bacon cooked, crumbled
Preheat the oven to 425 F.
Cut the sub buns lengthwise and arrange cut side up on a large cookie sheet.
Divide the pizza sauce among the buns, spreading it over the surface of each slice.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over top of the pizza sauce.
Arrange your choice of toppings on one side of your sandwich.
Once your pizzas are assembled, place them in the oven on the lower rack for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is hot and bubbly. Match up the top of your sub bun with the bottom and cut in half to serve.
Tip: Taking your pizza subs to go? Wrap in Parchment paper or foil to keep warm.
