#14 – BBQ Hamburgers

So anyone living in Northern Ontario right now knows it’s not exactly BBQ season but these hamburgers are so amazing, you can cook them up in a grilling pan and still have fabulous results. If you’re craving a little taste of summer, these are the perfect solution! I’ve received a lot of fantastic reviews on these burgers, you like to keep frozen burgers in your freezer for a quick meal… you’ll want to start preparing these in advance and freezing them. I usually buy a bulk package of hamburger and make 12-15 patties at once. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place patties in a single layer. Layer another sheet of parchment paper on top for extra layers. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze. Once patties are frozen, remove from cookie sheet and store in large freezer bags. Only take out the number of patties you need in the morning to defrost. I’ve cooked from frozen.

These are a go-to meal when our family is camping. Once we joined my brother-in-law at his camp and we brought our own burgers along. My B.I.L. decided to try one of our burgers. Once he was done, he asked if he could have another one of mine, even though he had lots of his own to eat. I guess the pre made grocery store burgers just didn’t cut it. 😉

I like to load my burgers up with all types of fresh ingredients. Depending on my mood, I may even top with some hot peppers. What’s your favourite topping?

Homemade BBQ Hamburgers

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
  • 1/2 pkg onion soup mix
  • 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together in large bowl. Make patties your preferred method.
  2. My method: Take 1/2 cup of the mixture (about 5 oz) and flatten into circular patties. I keep my sour cream container lids for this purpose. I flatten the ground beef onto the lid, and then gently lift them of the lid. The perfect hamburger!
